While stressing to get a project done, often times you may only focus on how to improve the negative, rather then reward the positive. Be it employees, team members, or customers, people want to be appreciated for their efforts.
Your employees are working as hard as they can to satisfy your vision. And yes, they are being paid for their time, however, sometimes a compliment or two might motivate them even more. After an employee has completed a report early, or corrected a huge accounting error, you should take a moment to let the individual know how much you appreciate them.
The same concept applies to team members, regardless of titles. You don’t have to be in charge to give your co-workers some recognition. Startups are overwhelmed with the seemingly never-ending workload, and everyone might feel underpaid and underappreciated. Take a moment to thank a teammate for a job well done. Team members who know their effort doesn’t go unnoticed will work even harder.
Last, but not least, don’t forget your customers! Your customers are your best sales people and brand advocates. Asking your audience to spread the word about your community is a great idea to increase your exposure, however, expressing your gratitude will set you apart. An audience that feels needed and appreciated will remain loyal and generate additional referrals.
Can you think of someone in your life who deserves a “Hey, Good Job!”?
